User Reviews of Shige Japanese Cuisine

Want an incredible sushi experience?

Over a decade ago, before sushi became trendy, Shige's was the epitome of authenticity combined with his own personal culinary flair. Today, he has maintained that harmony without compromising his style. We...

Shige is solid

This is one of the "original" upscale sushi places in Boise. There were a few others before Shige arrived, but it's fair to say that he took sushi to a new level in Boise. It's a good place. The fish is fresh and the sushi chefs are the real-deal. I recommend sitting at the bar as the atmosphere at the tables isn't anything special.

Yelp.com Review - by Tak K.

4.0 of 5 stars. While this place may not match some of the best in SF Bay Area, it's definitely a recommendable place. A lot of Japanese natives come here for casual setting and relatively good selection of Japanese…

Overrated

For Boise, Shige's is an institution, and deservedly so. Chef Shige was one of the very first in Boise, and has consistantly been making good sushi. Good sushi... not excellent. After a few soirees, the...

Best in Town

The amount of sushi you get with your order is as good as the food. The fish is the freshest in town. Cooked food is just as good as the sushi so if you don't like sushi you can still get great japanese food.

Having eaten sushi (including Japan) around the world - I should keep quiet about Shiges - but I won't. You'll be hard pressed to find a better place to sit, relax and enjoy the nuances
